In appreciation of the great mercies of Allah in His preservation of our dear country and for the peace that we enjoy, Chairman, Committee on Foreign Affairs and Member representing Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives,Rt.Hon.( Dr.) Yusuf Buba Yakub, has conveyed glowing congratulations to all Nigerians on standing with one another amidst the challenges faced daily.

The lawmaker, who made known the above, Saturday,in Abuja, as part of his Sallah message on the occasion of this year’s celebration of the Eid El Kabir, said Nigerians have more than ever before demonstrated faith in their country and shown that with unity of purpose and an abiding faith in our collective strength as a people the nation can surmount every challenge that may today seem to dog its progress.

While congratulating the entire Muslim Ummah and Nigerians on the Eid,Buba said the celebration was yet again another opportunity to demonstrate unity, love and the spirit of communality which our African heritage confers on us all. He added that the traditional African culture was originally one that sought after the good of all and made copious efforts and sacrifice to seek contentment for all of its constituents, but regretted that part of that communal African heritage, was at a time fragmented by the incursion of foreign habits and values that encouraged individuality and promoted a divisive ideology.

The realtor and farmer- turned-politician, therefore, expressed happiness that in the face of recent challenges, like wars, landslides and the COVID I9 pandemic, and their untoward effects on the globe, the world has again realised that we need one another at all times and that the vision of a shared humanity is all that the earth needs to keep evolving and perpetuating itself.

Buba used the occasion to call for prayers as the nation continues to grapple with several socio-political issues, especially in relation to activities and programmes that will dovetail into the 2023 election year in the country. He said prayers and a continuous reorientation for the civil populace were some of the critical requirements in the face of the desperation with which some politicians are already looking forward to the forthcoming electioneering period. He, therefore, called on all persons seeking elective offices to make a personal commitment of playing by the rules by understanding that there must first exist a country before anyone can talk about any political ambition; stressing that the survival of our dear nation and people is greater than every individual political aspiration.

The lawmaker thanked all traditional, religious and political leaders in his Constituency and Adamawa State at large and lauded the constant efforts they make each day to galvanize the people for collective progress and peaceful co-existence at all times. While pointing out the gains of such virtues,Rt.Hon.Buba called on the people to ensure that the joy of the celebration of this year’s Eid El Kabir extends to all homes in their neighborhoods. He concluded by reminding them that the true essence of today’s celebration is sacrifice and selfless-giving, without which our own joy will never be full.
