The Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives has expressed shock and sadness at the sudden passing of Chief (Mrs) Anike Deborah Adelegbe, spouse of the Member representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency,Hon. Otunba Timehin Adelegbe, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Committee.

In a condolence message, signed by Rt.Hon.(Dr.)Yusuf Buba Yakub on behalf of the Committee,a copy of which was made available to his Media Office,Saturday, the lawmakers mourned the sudden death of the woman they described as a virtuous companion and confidante to one of their own. While observing that the loss had created a vacuum that can hardly be filled in the life of their bereaved colleague, the Members assured him of their constant support and prayers in a period they described as his “dark hours”.

Part of the message read:
“While I understand how hurting the loss of a loved one can be,such reality can even be more depressing when we consider the fact that your beloved wife left us at a time when her companionship and the ever-constant support, which have aided you these past years in the service of your State and our dear nation, are desired the most. Surely, she has left a vacuum that no one, however close, can fill.

“As a close colleague and one with whom you have these past years shared your great strength, commitment to duty, experience and, indeed, your uncommon wisdom in the management of men and the leadership of our dear country,I can only imagine what you may be going through in these dark moments. I,however, pray that you find the strength to hold the family together and to stay the course of total resignation to the will of our All-knowing God from whom alone comfort will come in these trying hours.

“While assuring you that my family and I stand with you and yours at this moment of grief and will continue to uphold you in our daily devotions,I wish to also urge that you find solace in the fact that your dear wife, who is known by all who met her as a woman of glowing virtues,is now resting at the right hand of our Lord and Saviour where we shall meet again on Resurrection Morning!

“For myself,my dear family, and on behalf of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House, for which you have been a most worthy Vice Chairman, and, indeed, the people of Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency of Adamawa State, whose mandate I hold at the National Assembly, I, again, convey our deepest condolences to you on this irreparable loss and pray that the soul of your dear wife find great repose in the warm bosom of our dear Lord,” the text concluded.
