Olanipekun SAN Takes Over as ADC Counsel as Court Adjourns to 24th March 2023

The Court of Appeal on Monday adjourned the appeal filed by the African Democratic Congress, ADC and Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu against Mr Kingsley Temitope Ogga and 8 ors.

The court was informed by the learned counsel, Olanipekun, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, that since the case is not a pre-election hearing requires time to fully do justice to the intra party matter.

The Senior Advocate leading 6 other lawyers said he took over the case only last week Friday, as such, he requested his Lordships of the Appellate court to give time for him to have the opportunity to study the brief in the interest of justice.

He further stated that the case is not a pre election matter and as such, it is not time barred.

The Appealate court Jurists called on the respondents lawyers to be sensitive to the workload before the courts bordering on pre-election cases that must be completed within the next few weeks.

The respondents did not object to the change of appellant counsel but tried to state that briefs were already entered. However, the learned justices of the court of Appeal drew the attention of the respondents counsel again to their workload especially the need to meet up with pre-election matters.

At this point the respondents lawyer said, that he got the hint and withdrew his objection to the adjournment application.

The court therefore adjourned the matter to 24th March 2023 for hearing.

More to follow as the general elections draw closer as ADC is bound to become stronger and entrenched. Meanwhile, activities at the Global Campus are at beehive.
