Engineer Elias Mbam, the immediate past Chairman of Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission has been declared winner of a parrallel All Progressives Congress( APC) gubernatorial primaries held in Abakaliki.
The primary elections took place at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium and along Mile 50 Road, Abakaliki as delegates for the election were seen in both locations participating in the election.
The election will enable the APC to produce candidates for both the State House of Assembly and the Governorship for the 2023 general election.
As at the time of this report, there’s no reported incident of violence or disruption of the ongoing parallel election as security personnel were seen maintaining law and order for a peaceful conduct of the election.
Announcing the results of one of the factions, the Returning Officer, Egwu Inya declared Engr. Elias Mbam as the winner of the governorship primary election in the State.
“After successfully conducting the Primary election, I want to declare that Engr. Elias Mbam as the winner with the highest number of votes. He scored 741 votes to emerge APC candidate in Ebonyi.
“Senator Julius Ucha got 4 votes, while Francis Nwifuru got 7 votes.”
In his remarks, Engr. Mbam thanked the delegates for their votes and participation in the election.
“Thank you for finding me Worthy to fly the flag of the Party in the 2023 election.”
As at the time of this report, it is anticipated that the embattled Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Francis Nwifuru would also emerge as the APC Governorship candidate in the State.
Nwifuru has been tipped by Governor David Umahi as the next Governor of the State come 2023. At the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, results of the primary election was still being awaited.
