Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu has admonished teachers in the state to always impact positively on students so as to attract recognitions and rewards from Government and Non- Governmental Agencies (NGOs).
Mrs. Ezewu gave the advice in her office in Asaba when the 2022 Delta State Maltna champion, Mr. Christopher Layefa Edumu , a computer teacher in Mastercare International School, Asaba paid her a courtesy visit to present his award to the Ministry.
The Commissioner, who was represented on the occasion by the Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro congratulated the teacher for his award.
Mrs. Ezewu stated that the performances of the academic students of his school he had impacted must have contributed to his emergence as the State Maltna champion.
She called on teachers to put in their best at all times in the line of duty, adding that self development among teachers was key in improving the standard of education.
Earlier, the 2022 State Maltna Champion/award winner, Mr. Christopher Layefa Edumu said that it was important for him to present the award he won to the Ministry as a deliberate measure to appreciate the support of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to him .
Mr . Edumu pledged to contribute to the educational drive of the State Government by way of strengthening the capacity of other teachers , stressing that there were several strategies teachers could use to impact more on the children.
He solicited the support of the Ministry to incorporate him into the teachers training team in Delta State, saying that when teachers possessed the ability to understand areas of weakness in children, their teaching attitudes would change.
