NIGERIAN ENVOY PROMISES TO STRENGTHEN TIES WITH HOST COUNTRY AS THE NIGERIAN ASSOCIATION IN THE DIASPORA TREATS HIM TO A WARM RECEPTION.

Ambassador Anderson Madubike has again assured of his readiness to deepen diplomatic and economic ties between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Commonwealth of Australia,New Zealand and the Pacific. He also promised to do his best to swiftly attend to all issues involving Nigerians in the region, especially in relation to Consular matters.

The Nigerian Envoy also said he would work assiduously to enhance all forms of bilateral relations that would ensure that Nigeria and her host countries in the region achieve maximum benefits in all areas where each country has comparative advantage over the others.

Speaking during a reception held in his honour,Sunday,May 29th,by the Nigerian Association in Canberra, Australia, a part of the region over which he superintendents as Nigeria’s High Commissioner, Ambassador Madubike identified the huge potential education in the region holds for the youth of Nigeria and paid glowing tributes to what had been achieved before his arrival at the region a little over a year ago. He pledged to do his best to build on the successes recorded by his predecessors in order to use education as a socio-cultural tool to deepen relations between Nigeria and the region.

The career diplomat equally assured the Nigerian Diasporans of his passion as a team player, highlighting the benefits of working together to ensure that the diplomatic relations between Nigeria, Commonwealth of Australia and Pacific Nations are broadened. He further assured the group that the High Commission under his watch would be responsive to her responsibilities.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, President of the Nigerian Association in the region,Barr.Uche Okorie,conveyed the felicitations of the group to Ambassador Madubike on his appointment and posting to the region. While informing that it was a tradition for the Association to organise a welcome reception in honour of every Envoy of Nigeria posted to the region,he, however,added that the high prevalence of the COVID 19 pandemic across the world at the time of the Ambassador’s arrival in Australia had sabotaged the usual reception.

Barr. Okorie,who thanked the Ambassador for the enormous impact he has made on the lives of the people of the area and the popularity he has come to enjoy among members of the diplomatic community in the entire region in so short a time, also emphasized that such huge impact could only come from an experienced diplomat like Ambassador Madubike,who they reliably gathered had before now plied his art in different regions of the world, including the People’s Republic of China, the United States of America and other places across the globe where he had served in different capacities. He promised the support and partnership of the Nigerian Diaspora community in the area for the programmes and activities of the High Commission.

Parts of the high points of the occasion include remarks by the invited members of the diplomatic community in Canberra,the serving of varieties of Nigerian dishes and the presentation of souvenirs to Ambassador Madubike,who expressed gratitude for the elaborate reception held in his honour. Among those present at the occasion were Ambassador of Morocco, the High Commissioner of Kenya, Uganda as well as the Ambassadors of Botswana and Sudan. Also present were members of staff of the the High Commission of Nigeria in Canberra and family members of the High Commissioner, among others.
