Asuquo Ekpenyong Visits Victims of Marina Boat Mishap At The Hospital, Urges Search and Rescue Efforts To Continue

Senator Representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District Asuquo Ekpenyong Sunday morning visited victims of the Marina Boat Mishap at the hospital in Calabar .

 

The Senator who was visibly shaken at the incident while at the scene decried the rate of accidents that occur due to negligence of safety protocols.

 

” I am extremely sorry for what has happened here, this was an avoidable incident if only those manning the controls of the boat followed the right safety protocols,” Ekpenyong said.

 

Continuing the senator said, ” From what I hear there are still three students to be found, I urge the authorities concerned not to relent in their efforts and continue searching for the remaining students and hopefully they can bring them home safely to their families.”

 

The Senator offered his condolences and assistance to the survivors of the accident.

 

It will be recalled that a boat carrying 13 medical students from the Nigerian Medical Association NIMSA who were holding their annual Health week in Calabar the Cross River State Capital capsized on Saturday during a boat cruise in Marina resort.

 

As at the time of filing this report 10 out of the 13 students have been found alive and well while rescue efforts continue to for the remaining 3 students.
