DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JANUARY 28 SOWING SIPRITUAL UNITY (2) Scripture: Gen. 11: 6; Rom. 15:5; Phil. 2: 2

As seen in yesterday’s devotional, no nation, tribe, community or an association can stay in peace void of established unity amongst their people. In Christendom, unity is a force that Satan fears most. Satan and his groups are always out to distort existence of unity. So, he is busying sowing seeds of discord amongst people, including God’s own children.

We can see how God Himself caused disunity amongst the people of Shinar (Babylonia), building the Tower of Babel in unity, a tower that would take them to heaven to see God physically. The Bible reported God saying: – “Look if they are able to accomplish all this when they have just began to exploit their linguistic and political unity, just think of what they will do! Nothing will be unattainable for them” (Gen. 11: 6 The Living Bible).

The most potential ingredient Christians need to conquer the world for God and His Son Jesus Christ is unity. With harmony of unity, we Christians will be stronger and formidable in this world. Other religious bodies seem stronger when it comes to attacking Christians with their allied forces because they formed central unity amongst themselves.

Spiritual Unity can be referred to as “common mind-set relationship” as found in Philippians 2: 2. It can be said to mean “living in harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus (Rom. 15: 5). Christians are to see the possibility of allowing themselves to relate with each other from the Spiritual realm. We Christians must do all we can to sow Spiritual Unity, that is to implant Spiritual Unity in one another’s mind.

We are to fasten people together in unity just as tailors fasten clothes together by stitching them to form wears. Sowing Spiritual Unity involves cultivating unity built on the Holy Spirit into fellow Christians.

Sowing Spiritual Unity might not be that easy since the evil forces fear unity, especially amongst the Christians. These evil forces can do anything within their powers to bring hatred and disintegration upon Christian individuals. Apostle Paul could be well informed that sowing spiritual unity amongst Christians might not be that easy.

Reason he advised Christians to: – “Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves in peace” (Eph. 4: 3 Africa Study Bible). We are to therefore, make effort, endeavour and be determined to sow Spiritual Unity into each other as long as we live. We can reflect on this quote by an unknown author: – “When Spiders unite, they can tie down lion.”

PRAYER:

Pray and ask the Holy Spirit of God to always show you how to sow seed of unity into your fellow Christians as well as those you are relating with in this world. Ask God to enable Christians abide in Spiritual unity amongst each other in Jesus name.
